CR Readers
Your CR system represents a major investment for your practice. While most recognize the importance of having your x-ray generating system maintained on a routine basis, preventive maintenance on your Computed Radiography (CR) system is often overlooked.Specific service requirements may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the following are areas that are normally addressed during preventive maintenance service on a CR system:
- Clean Air Vents and Internal Components: CR readers are subject to dust and dirt particles that are generally found in the office environment. Keeping air ducts clean promote proper ventilation and internal cleaning helps prevent artifacts and damage to optics.
- Phantom Check: Exposure of an imaging plate to a test phantom allows the service engineer to evaluate many important exposure factors such as PhotoMultiplier (PMT) consistency, exposure consistency, contrast, sharpness and laser jitter.
- Transport: Mechanical transport functions are checked for normal wear and tear. Parts are lubricated and replaced as required.
- Optics: Clean mirrors and optics systems as required.
- Erasure lamps: Check erasure lamps to assure they are operating properly.
